Description
The Xena vest is one of my bestselling patterns! It’s a unique layering piece, with straps on the sides. The lacy stitch works up pretty quickly and the motifs are joined as you go. You only need to fasten off a few times while making this piece, so don’t worry about weaving in many loose ends.
It’s not possible to change colors for every individual flower – if you want to make a multicolored flower vest, my Cora vest pattern is a good alternative! It is possible to change colors for every row of flowers, but I don’t recommend this for beginners (the pattern doesn’t include instructions on this).

SIZE: made to measure (you can adjust it to your own measurements).
SKILL LEVEL: advanced beginner (you just need to know the basics). This pattern includes written instructions, photos of every step, and illustrations, so it’s very easy to follow!
LANGUAGE: English (I use US terminology).
YARN: cotton, weight 2 (fine/sport/5ply). I used 4 balls of Merino 150 by Lang Yarns (1 ball = 50 g/150 m/164 yds) and I usually wear size M. Note that this is a merino yarn; if I made it again, I would use cotton for a better drape.
CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS: you can adjust the length of the vest and the number of straps.

Very pretty garment, and I found the instructions easy to understand, even though I’m a beginner and this was my first time crocheting a flower pattern like this. I also liked that the instructions did not work with pre-defined sizes you have to meet gauge for, but included detailed info on how to work with any yarn and gauge to make the vest fit your body 🙂 I made my vest with Friends Cotton 8/6 (fine) yarn, but if I were to make it again, I would probably use even finer yarn.
